"Sky"
About four years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Linda
Blew and Gary
Roberts while they were hiking with their Aussies, Justin and Jiggs in
South
Mountain Park. I was extremely impressed with the beauty and the
demeanor of
their four legged friends. During our conversation I found out that
Linda
and Gary had rescued their dogs through Aussie Rescue of Arizona.
Now you
have to understand that I have had nothing but German Shepherds as
companions
my whole adult life. I was so taken by Justin and Jiggs that I
obtained
Linda's phone number and told her that I would call her when my old
German
Shepherd female went to Doggie Heaven.
Four years later, almost to the day, I contacted Linda and Gary and told
them
the sad news of the loss of my German Shepherd. I asked Linda to
help me
find an available Aussie to adopt that loved children ( as I have four
grandchildren ). After several weeks had passed, Linda informed me
that
Alice Corrado had a seven week old Blue Merle Aussie ( with a tail ), from
an
unwanted breeding that was available for adoption. The puppy was living in
a
foster home in Peoria, AZ being cared for by a very wonderful and dog
smart
foster parent named Stacy. I made an appointment to visit the puppy named
"Sky" and off I went to Peoria. When Stacy introduced me
to Sky it was a
done deal. This little blue eyed ball of energy with a tail, was
what I had
been hoping for. Sky has been a member of our family for about two
months
now and has brought us nothing but joy. He is a permanent attachment
to our
grandchildren as well as to my wife and I. He is a picture of health
and is
due to get neutered on November 14, 2000. Sky is so intelligent.
He knows
how to heel, sit, down, sit at curbs before being invited to heel across
the
street. He even knows how to roll over, speak and is learning how to
track.
Stacey had taught Sky how to use a doggie door so house breaking him was a
snap. He only goofed once and that was during the first few minutes
after I
had brought him home. Sky is now enjoying the good life, especially
hanging
out at our home in Payson and getting to know his new friend horse friend
Navajo.
Thank you Alice, Linda,Gary and Stacy for bringing a tremendous amount of
joy to my family for many years to come. Your caring and dedication is an
example for us all to emulate.
